During the holiday season, wishes are everywhere! Children write their wish lists to Santa or whoever brings them presents, adults whisper their wishes in hopes someone would hear them and we all have our secret wishes for the New Year.
What do people wish for in different countries and what do we wish for each other? Health and prosperity are always popular but I found that people are the happiest when you wish them something very specific, personal and sometimes funny. I can imagine why. That way you know someone sees you and wishes you something you might not even dared to wish for yourself. It’s not lazy. So let’s try to do that!:)
What are the weirdest wishes you’ve heard? Our kids always have very unique wishes so Grandpa Frost often has to ask his helpers to make a custom made gift. Once my goldilocks (the middle child) wanted a LIVE ELF! We barely managed to convince her that he can’t give elves away – it would be like giving your child away… She settled for a walking elf doll… Which can not be bought, at least I haven’t seen it… But she got it. It was ugly as hell but hey, the elves need to practise somewhere, ok? And it’s much more difficult to transform something than to make it from scratch, you know?… I guess elves are not proficient in making a walking mechanism by themselves. But she loved it nevertheless!
Last year she wanted a Waldorf-style soft doll but it should be a boy (that means “anatomically correct” boy:D). Try to google that! Well, she got it as well. This year “the little prince” (our youngest – he loves the little prince and looks just like him, hence his English nickname;) wants one like that but it has to be a boy with blond/golden hair… Yea…
What are you wishing for? Something cute, something practical, something cosy? Or “just” world peace and kids not fighting? š
